Governor Ganduje in UK attending Agri-Tech Trade and Investment Conference in London

His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR and the Governors of Niger State, Ebonyi State, Oyo State and the Deputy Governors of Benue State and Ogun State are attending an Agri-Tech Trade and Investment Conference in London organized by the Department of International Trade in the United Kingdom.

The aim of the conference is to strengthen bilateral relations particularly in agricultural sector, and the UK Department for International trade is primarily interested in boosting its trade level between Nigeria and UK.

The Prime Minister of UK’s trade envoy to Nigeria Mr John Howell, a member of the British Parliament in his remarks said that over a million pounds have been earmarked for Nigeria this year particularly in strengthening the Nigerian infrastracture. He added that indeed Agriculture has a huge role to play in Nigeria’s efforts in diversifying its economy, and as such the need to link the private sector from the UK to invest in the agricultural sector.

The Hon Minister for Agriculture Audu Ogbeh in his address said that Nigeria is hugely investing in Agricultural sector, the Governors that are at the event are also doing a lot in their various states, since the inception of this administration, there was a need to diversify away from the oil sector and the best option available was agriculture, and today, our Agricultural sector is fast becoming a source of huge revenue in our country.

There was also a panel discussion which had Governor Ganduje and all the governors as well as the 2 deputies on it, were they made presentations on investment oppurtunities in their state, and specific areas where such investment is needed.

Governor Ganduje was accompanied by the Hon Commissioners of Agriculture Hon Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, that of Finance Hon Aminu Dan Amu, MD of KNARDA Prof Mahmud Daneji and former Commissioner of Planning & Budget Hon Zubaida Damakka who is representing her compan
