Established in January 2009, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MSTI) was created in recognition of the vital role that science, technology, and innovation play in advancing society. Our mandate is to position Kano State at the forefront of the global IT and technological revolution, ensuring that our state benefits from the immense opportunities these advancements bring.

Our Mandates
- Policy Formulation and Implementation:
We drive the creation and execution of science, technology, and innovation policies in Kano State.
- Public Awareness and Support:
We foster a culture of innovation by promoting public awareness and support for science, technology, and innovation as key tools for development.
- Research and Application:
We support and harness scientific and technological research, ensuring its practical application for the socio-economic advancement of the state.
- Innovation Encouragement:
We promote initiatives that foster innovation, particularly in agriculture, commerce, industry, education, health, and the environment.
- ICT Knowledge Expansion:
We are dedicated to spreading ICT knowledge and skills across the state, with a special focus on the government workforce, youth, and educational institutions as well as adult digital literecy.
- Synergy and Collaboration:
We establish and maintain strong linkages with relevant state, federal, and international agencies to promote science, technology, and innovation.
- Local Technology Development:
We nurture local technological potential as a driver for socio-economic growth.
- Government Process Automation:
We lead efforts in automating and re-engineering government processes, harmonizing existing ICT assets into a world-class infrastructure.
- STEM Education Development:
We promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and are setting up ICT/CBT centers across the state’s local governments.
- International Linkages:
We foster connections with more advanced countries and actively participate in international science and innovation initiatives.
- Special Projects:
We undertake special projects as assigned by the Governor of Kano State.
