Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and Disabled

MANDATES:

The Ministry is mandated to formulate appropriate policies, projects, programs, and viable initiatives bordering on women children people with Special needs, promote gender equity/equality via empowering women , training, and provision of support, skills acquisition, organizing and supervision of women groups, operating and maintenance of social homes in the State and also protect and promote the right of children and their welfare

 

VISION:

To transform  women/people with special needs, children and other vulnerable persons into wealth creating activities through functional skills acquisition training for the attainment of meaningful livelihood.

MISSION:

Formulation of policies, programs and other initiatives toward promoting and enhancing the development of children, women empowerment as well as reducing the distress and frustrations that afflicts the vulnerable/disadvantage groups in the society for holistic human development.

 Departments

  1. DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND GENERAL SERVICES

This department is headed by the director administration and general services, a staff on posting from the office of the head of service. This department handles matters relating to personnel and general administration, finances, as well as coordinating activities of the Ministry other function include: Staffing, training of staff, promotion and discipline,

  1. DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING , REASECH AND STATISTICS:

This is services department. Its function include the following: Planning programs and projects of the ministry, preparing ministerial budget, Secretariat of the tenders board, Management of data and statistics of the ministry/ Management of the databank related to program implementation, Managing the ministry’s library, Maintenance of ministry’s facilities

  1. DEPARTMENT OF WOMEN AFFAIR:

This department is charged with matters related to the development and upliftment of the general standards of living of women in the state. The department focuses more attention on vocational skills acquisition, training and gender mainstreaming.

  1. DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE

This department is responsible for the eradication/reducing social negative attitudes as well as to encourage the promotion of and sustenance of balanced social order. The department operates through the various outfits across the state.

  1. CHILD DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

This department was established with the mandate to handle matters relating to survival, protection and development of children in the state.

  1. DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL DUTIES: is responsible for handling specific tasks and projects that require specialized attention. This includes:
  • Oversee the implementation of high-priority projects/programs
  • Attend to any unscheduled task that demand specialized response
  1. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ENLIGHTMENT: it is responsible for the image  making of the Ministry, coordination of media relations between the Ministry  and media organizations operating within and outside the state, organizing press briefings, conferences and issuing of release/announcements
